  1. Excellent cause

The sooner the music industry learns they cannot stiffle creativity and free sharing of "legal" material the better

  2. Couldn't it be Metallica's Black Album instead of Jay-Z's?

Ah well - good cause to support Simon!

  3. I changed my weblog to grey for this...

...and I got an e-mail from my mother thanking me for making the colors easier on her eyes. Ai-yah.

  5. Doh... I thought the colors on my monitor were jacked up when I saw this...

  7. I have a grey CSS theme but that's coincidental and yes I agree the EMI Cease and Desist sample letter did have some serious flaws, even with my basic knowledge of UK and International Copyright practice I picked up a few erroneous demands within the e-mail myself.

  8. You know, I think I actually preferred the grey scheme - any chance of a choice of stylesheets? :)

  9. Re: Chris O'Brien's Metallica suggestion

    1. Metallica are rabidly anti-filesharing, so using their album would have jeopardised the legal defence position for The Grey Album.
    2. Jay-Z purposely made an acappella version of The Black Album so that remixes like this could be made.
    3. US Copyright law doesn't cover records made before 1970 (IIRC), so there's no worries on sampling The White Album.
